From Stage 4 Cancer (Depleted Uranium Exposure) War Correspondent Shares Recovery Journey
At the recently concluded (and most amazingly awesome I might add) @UCSDhealth | Center for Integrative Medicine symposium on ‘integrative oncology’ (curated story here) I was blessed to cross paths with a rather amazing man, and now brother of the heart, formerly known as ‘Brad Willis‘. Brad is now embracing the path of ‘Bhava Ram’ while modeling the roots of integrative medicine as ‘vedic practitioner’. According to Wikipedia, background on Bhava Ram notes he is:
‘…a former NBC News foreign correspondent and Vedic scholar. As a journalist, Willis was the recipient of the Alfred I. duPont–Columbia University Award for his work from inside Afghanistan during the Soviet Occupation in 1986. Since retiring from journalism due to disability, Willis has focused on teaching ayurveda and yoga..’
For a preview of Bhava’s message see:
Bhava was one of four featured ‘Documented “Miraculous” Cancer Remission Case Studies’ at the integrative oncology symposium (NOTE: we will have some compelling video of this important conference posted here shortly!). As I sat and dutifully tweeted, with occasional A and B roll film capture all tagged #IO13 analytics here, and transcript here, it struck me that Bhava is an e-patient though he doesn’t know it. His narrative is a powerful one of hope, determination and well ‘miraculous’ recovery. NOTE: Bhava knew nothing of the ‘e-patients‘ community nor, the Society for Participatory Medicine for that matter.
At a time when the country is feeling the crushing blow of the burden of it’s fragmented and very expensive sick care ‘system’ and many, including ACOs look to enable lifestyle changes (diet, exercise, mindfulness) and as part of the ‘triple aim’ quest, HIBC.tv is honored to support this important work as exclusive live streaming media partner. In association with SDAV we’ll stream live Bhava’s talk about his recovery and preview his recently published work titled: Warrior Pose: A War Correspondent’s Memoir’ direct from the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice (one benefit from America’s obsession with hamburgers’?) on the Campus of the University of San Diego (@uofsandiego).
The event is Sunday, May 5th, 2013 at 6PM Pacific/9PM Eastern. You can follow via our live stream here.
